UPDATE 2/25/09
Lightweight contender Rich Crunkilton has been forced to withdraw from Sunday’s WEC showdown with Bart Palaszewski after suffering a knee injury during training. Replacing Crunkilton in the bout against Palaszewski will be unbeaten Chicago lightweight Ricardo Lamas, who will step into the cage at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas (VERSUS, 9pm ET / 6pm PT) with a stellar 5-0 record.

On March 1st Bart “Bartimus” Palaszewski takes one step closer to his title shot in the WEC. Known for his wars in the IFL, Bart made his debut in the WEC on December 3rd where he earned KO of the night against fellow slugger Alex Karalexis.
Now with the fight against top contender Richard Crunkilton just around the corner, Bart is training harder than ever.
With one of the larger records in the WEC, Bart may be a new kid on the block but don’t let that fool you, with a 30-11-0 record he is one of the more veteran fighters in the WEC. If all goes well for Bart in this fight he should be next in line for a shot at the WEC lightweight belt. Varner, the current lightweight champ has already said Bart is on his radar and it would be an honor to fight him.
“I’m not looking past Crunkilton right now but I am looking to get in and finish this fight” Bart told us, “Of course I’m looking for the KO but if it goes to the ground I may have to show my Team Curran BJJ hehe”. “I want to win this for my teammates and my family who have always supported me, I want to thank my sponsors as well, they have really stepped up for me in this fight and I don’t want to let them down”. Palaszewski’s sponsor’s for this fight are TapouT, Jesus Didn’t Tap, Gamma-O, Vandal Eyewear, FullTiltPoker.net, and DynaPep Micro-Energy Shot.

We would like to recognize TapouT, DynaPep, FullTiltPoker.net, Jesus Didn’t Tap, BFN, Vandal Eyewear, Critical, and Gamma-O for supporting the stars in the SuckerPunch stable. It’s sponsors like these that truly help evolve this sport.
