STURDY AT M-1 (UPDATE 6/6)
June 5th, 2009 | Published in FEATURED STORY | 6 Comments

Ryan Sturdy won a decision over EliteXC vet John Doyle at the M-1 Challenge friday night. Sturdy took this fight on a weeks notice and moved up a weight class to light heavy. This fight did not come without more surprises as on the night of the weigh ins Sturdy’s original opponent Abdullah Ahmady was declared ineligible to fight by the commission due the the fact that his record could not be confirmed. Doyle was the last minute replacement.
Sturdy suffered a cut above the eye due to an accidental head butt which almost stopped the fight, but Ryan was able to turn up the pressure and the officials allowed him to continue on to a unanimous decision.
MMAweekly gave sturdy the unofficial fight of the night honors.
